History

The Yacht de Paris was built in 1933 by the celebrated naval architect Andre Mauric (cf. an article in Classic Yachting magazine, #20, Oct/Nov 2003) The renown naval architect died at 94, on July 10, 2003, but between 1930 and 1985 this giant talent designed more than 3,000 boats and was a pioneer in both the shipbuilding industry and growth of pleasure cruising.

The architect of the first French challenger for the America Cup, Mauric also designed many other famous boats including the Pen Duick IV, Kriter V, Neptune... that competed in famous races throughout the world. His prestigious career included building speed boats at the Esterel shipyards in the South of France, where he was responsible for every facet of production from yachts to military patrol boats.

Assigned to Bastia for patrols of the Corsican coast, the Yacht de Paris was named, “Golo” and provided research service for the film, “Rommel’s Treasure” in 1966. Later, the boat plied the Canal de Bourgogne carrying up to 65 passengers.

During the 1970s, the boat found mooring facing the beautiful Ile Saint Louis at the Port de la Tournelle, just under the famed restaurant, “La Tour d’Argent” and steps from Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Paris-Yacht and her gracious proprietor are ready to make your stay magical!
